Matuweskewin means “porcupine hunter” in the Wolastoqey Latuwewakon language. With its unique and authentic items, the gift shop showcases the craftsmanship of Wolastoqey artists and artisans and those of other First Nations.

Visitor Information

Daily, June 21 to September 1, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The gift shop doubles as a visitor reception centre for the Putep ‘t-awt observatory. The gift shop staff will be pleased to inform you about Wolastoqey tourism attractions in the region.

The gift shop is also the point of departure for the Putep ‘t-awt electric shuttle. The shuttle can save visitors time who would otherwise have to walk to the observatory. Shuttle conditions can be found here. *** Reservation required; limited places available.

The gift shop parking lot is available for the duration of your activities, whether you’re here to visit the gift shop or explore the Putep ‘t-awt site.

Outside toilets and picnic tables can also be found near the gift shop.
