Cacouna lies near the northern edge of Wolastokuk, the ancestral territory of the Wolastoqiyik. Marking the territory are Pointe de Cacouna (the site of the annual pow-wow), the Matuweskewin gift shop and the Cacouna “reserve,” which is home to the community’s administrative offices. Also found in this sector is the Putep ‘t-awt observation site as well as Kiskotuk Coastal Park, both of which offer activities aiming to promote Wolastoqey culture and its territory.
